SAIT Annual Golf Challenge 2010

Report-Back

The battle for honours at the SAIT tournament at Glenvista Country Club was a heated affair.

The 2010 event was held on 5 October before the summer rains. In spite of the dry weather, the course was in excellent condition. The day provided some outstanding golf, especially on the Power Play holes in breezy conditions.

The personnel from the Golf Guys were on the First Tee. They added pressure with their cameras for the Swing Analysis CD which is given to all competitors, analysing individual swing and listing all the sponsors who contribute to the success of the day. Of course this is the first of the nine Power Play holes, with players nominating at least 3 holes as Power Play holes where double points can be made by aiming for the Power Play Jolly Roger Flags on the greens.

Participating companies sponsored holes on the course, which created a festive atmosphere. Doug Herschell, Sasol, Verto Afrika, Umongo and Chevron provided beverages and encouragement to weary golfers and helped turn the day into a memorable occasion.

The ROSE Foundation contributed prizes including flasks, backpacks and wine coolers.

The prize-giving dinner, with excellent prizes, was once again held in the marvellous Glenvista Club House. Engen’s team consisting of S. Mahoa, I. Merafe, Zeyd Timol and Bev Heuwel took top honours with 115 points. The affectionately nicknamed ‘Curry and Rice’ fourball, members C. Rice, R. Rice, K. Lubesi and G. Curry achieved second place with 104 points.

Once again, the SAIT Annual Golf Day was thoroughly enjoyed by all participants.
