Introduction to Wear & Materials

Course Objectives:
To give participants a practical understanding of wear processes and the right selection and range of materials to combat wear. A short introduction into the theory is complimented by practical examples of applications

Who Should Attend?
The course is aimed at supervisors and foremen, who must be able to understand and recognise wear and related problems, but will also benefit anyone requiring an  introductory understanding of the common wear processes and the materials currently used to combat wear.

Course Content:
Wear mechanisms such as sliding wear, abrasion, erosion, fatigue-related wear, corrosive-wear and cavitation; Wear resistant materials including ceramics, polymers, rubbers and hardmetals; Case studies on wear failures.

Certificate:
A certificate of attendance will be awarded to delegates who complete the course.

Fee:
Members: R2,280-00
Non-members: R2,394-00
Students: R600-00 (written proof of full-time student registration is required)

The fee includes full course notes, lunch, teas and 14% VAT, but not accommodation. A cancellation fee of R400 will be charged if registration is cancelled within ten days of the course. Substitute delegates are welcome. Payment to The SA Institute of Tribology, on receipt of invoice. NB: Please note that ALL bank charges are payable by the payee. To ensure maximum participation and attention, the course will be limited to the first 40 paid up applicants. Course notes are available prior to the course on full payment of course fees.
